James Vu Ahn Pham
James Vu Anh Pham is a Vietnamese Australian multi-award-winning choreographer, movement director, and dancer. Most recently they have become a key creative voice in FKA twigs’ visual world, choreographing multiple works including Striptease (winner of Best Alternative Video at the UKMVAs 2025), Predictable Girl, Childlike Things, HARD, ON Running, and Gentle Monster x FKA Twigs. Their music-video choreography also includes Adela’s DeathByDevotion, and they contributed to Madonna’s
CELEBRATION TOUR (Die Another Day).
James’ movement-direction credits include Moncler, Jil Sander, and Escentric Molecules, all for Dazed. As a performer, they have worked as both dancer and musician (clarinet and piano) across FKA twigs’ EUSEXUA tour, the EUSEXUA and Body High music videos, the On Running campaign live performance, and Madonna’s THE CELEBRATION TOUR.
Before establishing themself in the commercial and editorial space, James had an extensive career in contemporary dance, performing for leading choreographers including Damien Jalet, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Akram Khan, Alain Platel, and Anouk van Dijk. They have also guested with major companies such as the Royal Ballet of Flanders, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Chunky Move, Eastman, and Theater Basel.
James has also won the UK Critics Circle National Dance award for Most Outstanding Male Modern Performance (2022); Best Male Dancer at the Australian Dance Awards (2014), and the Helpmann Award for Best Male Dancer (2014).
